Welcome to New in Iceland! Here you can learn about Icelandic society, everyday life, your rights and responsibilities.
The learning materials are divided into courses with short lessons. You can learn at your own pace and return to lessons whenever you want.
1. Create an Account
To access the learning materials, you need to create an account.
- Click Sign Up.
- Choose your preferred language.
- Fill in the registration form.
- Submit the form to create your account.
- Once your registration is complete, you will be taken directly to the Courses page, where you can start learning.
2. Sign In
If you already have an account:
- Click Sign In.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click Log In.
If you forget your password, use the password reset link on the sign-in page.
3. Explore the Courses
The learning materials cover different topics about living in Iceland.
Each course contains several short lessons. You can choose which lesson to study and move between lessons in any order.
You do not need to complete one lesson before opening another. You can also return to previous lessons whenever you want.
4. View the Slideshows
Each lesson contains a short slideshow with information about the topic.
- Click or tap the slideshow to move to the next slide.
- Use the arrows at the bottom to move forwards or backwards.
- Click the fullscreen button to make the slideshow larger and easier to read.
- Click links inside the slides to open websites with additional information.
Take your time reading each slide. You can go backwards to read something again.
5. Search for Lessons
Looking for information about a particular topic?
Use the search function to find lessons that interest you.
- Find the search function on the website.
- Enter a word or topic you want to learn about.
- Look through the search results.
- Click a lesson to open it.
This makes it easy to find information without going through every course.
6. Complete the Quizzes
At the end of each course, there is a quiz to help you review what you have learned.
- Open the quiz at the end of the course.
- Read each question carefully.
- Choose your answer.
- Complete the quiz and view your results.
The quizzes help you check your understanding of the course material.
7. Check Your Progress
You can view your learning progress in your profile.
- Click your name in the website header.
- Select Profile from the menu.
- View your learning progress.
This helps you keep track of your learning and see how far you have come.
8. Learn at Your Own Pace
There is no need to rush.
You can move freely between lessons, repeat slideshows, search for information and revisit previous topics whenever you want.
9. Common Problems
I cannot create an account.
Make sure you have selected a language and completed all required fields. Check that your email address is correct and that your password meets the requirements.
I cannot sign in.
Check that you are using the correct email address and password. If you have forgotten your password, click the password reset link on the sign-in page.
The slideshow is not working.
Try refreshing the page. You can also try using the arrows at the bottom of the slideshow. If the problem continues, try another browser.
I cannot open a link in a slide.
Some links open in a new browser tab. Check whether a new tab has opened. You can also try clicking the link again.
I cannot find a lesson.
Use the search function to look for a word or topic. You can also return to the Courses page and browse the lessons.
I cannot open a course or quiz.
Make sure you are signed in to your account. If the page does not load, try refreshing it.
I cannot see my learning progress.
Click your name in the website header and select Profile. Make sure you are signed in to the correct account.
The website is not displaying correctly.
Try refreshing the page or opening the website in another browser. You can also try using a computer, tablet or phone.
